Aria the Scarlet Ammo

About Aria the Scarlet Ammo

Aria the Scarlet Ammo (緋弾のアリア) arrives as an action anime by J.C.STAFF (2011), and the premise is easy to summarize. What the story covers: Aria is a volatile girl who’s top dog in assault at a school for young mercenaries. When she finds out her classmate Kinji’s an ace, she strong-arms him into being her partner, but she isn’t the only femme fatale who longs a taste of his combat skills. His secret?

Soon after, he’s only a hotshot when he’s turned on! Aria gets Kinji for one task, but he’ll end up with more than one finger on his trigger!

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Aria Holmes Kanzaki (Rie Kugimiya) and Shirayuki Hotogi (Mikako Takahashi) are two of the characters you will meet early. This one is best suited to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. At 12 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by J.C.STAFF, so the studio's house style defines how Aria the Scarlet Ammo looks and moves on screen. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.3/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. On the casting side, Rie Kugimiya voicing Aria Holmes Kanzaki gives the lead role a recognizable voice. Released in 2011, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
