Blade Dance of the Elementalers

About Blade Dance of the Elementalers

Meet Blade Dance of the Elementalers (精霊使いの剣舞【ブレイドダンス】), an action, comedy and ecchi anime by TNK (2014). Here is the premise in a nutshell. In short: Only a pure maiden can have the privilege to contract with a spirit. Priestesses, who can summon spirits from Astral Zero, the realm of spirits, and have full command of their strength, are called elementalists.

Also worth knowing: Kamito Kazehaya is the only male with this privilege, and due to what happened in the past he comes to Areisha Spirit Academy where priestesses are trained to become elementalists. He is then told that he is to transfer to the school, form a team with priestesses to compete in Blade Dance where the most formidable elementalist is chosen, and win.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Kamito Kazehaya (Makoto Furukawa) and Claire Rouge (Ibuki Kido) are two of the characters you will meet early. This one is best suited to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. At 12 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with TNK, which means the visual identity of Blade Dance of the Elementalers follows that studio's craft. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Its 6.2/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. Voice casting, including Makoto Furukawa as Kamito Kazehaya, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2014, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
