Infinite Stratos

About Infinite Stratos

Looking for background on Infinite Stratos (IS〈インフィニット・ストラトス〉)? This action, comedy and ecchi series by 8-bit and Sakura Create (2011) starts out like this. At its core: Japan engineered an armed powered exoskeleton "Infinite Stratos" (IS) and it became the mainstream of weapons. Since only women can operate IS, women dominate the society over men.

Another thread: Orimura Ichika is a 15 year old boy and accidentally touches an IS placed in the IS pilot training school. He is found to be the only man who can operate IS and forced to enter the training school. Ichika's busy school life surrounded by girls has begun.

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Kouki Uchiyama as Ichika Orimura and Youko Hikasa as Houki Shinonono. If you count yourself among viewers who like fast, high-impact fights, put it on your list. The run is 12 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by 8-bit and Sakura Create, so the studio's house style defines how Infinite Stratos looks and moves on screen. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Its 6.1/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. Voice casting, including Kouki Uchiyama as Ichika Orimura, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2011, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
