World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman

About World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman

Looking for background on World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman (聖剣使いの禁呪詠唱＜ワールドブレイク＞)? This action, ecchi and fantasy series by diomedéa (2015) starts out like this. The premise: The story is set in a private high school that brings together "saviors," youths with awakened memories from past lives. Some of them are Shirogane who fight foes with weapons and techniques gleaned from the Puraana powers from their own bodies.

Another thread: Others are Kuroma who wipe out enemies, with magic to manipulate the Maana gifts that surpass physics. A boy named Moroha Haimura enrolls in this school. He is the first person in history with past lives of both Shirogane and Kuroma.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Kaito Ishikawa as Moroha Haimura and Ayana Taketatsu as Satsuki Ranjou. This one is best suited to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 12 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with diomedéa, which means the visual identity of World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman follows that studio's craft. Because it leans on action, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.3/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Kaito Ishikawa as Moroha Haimura, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2015, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
