About High School DxD

High School DxD (ハイスクールDxD) blends action, comedy and ecchi by TNK (2012). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. What the story covers: Issei Hyodo is your average perverted high school pupil whose one wish in life is to have his own harem, but he's got to be one of the unluckiest guys around. He goes on his first date with a girl only to get brutally attacked and killed when it turns out the girl is really a vicious fallen angel.

As things develop, to top it all off, he's later reincarnated as a devil by his gorgeous senpai who tells him that she is also a devil and now his master! One thing's for sure, his peaceful days are over. In a battle between devils and angels, who will win?

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Yuuki Kaji as Issei Hyoudou and Youko Hikasa as Rias Gremory. Think of it as a pick for viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 12 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

TNK is the studio behind High School DxD, and its direction shapes everything from character design to motion. Because it leans on action, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Its 6.9/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. On the casting side, Yuuki Kaji voicing Issei Hyoudou gives the lead role a recognizable voice. Released in 2012, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
