Rin-ne

About Rin-ne

Rin-ne (境界のRinne) arrives as a comedy anime by Brain's Base (2015), and the premise is easy to summarize. The setup: As a child Sakura Mamiya mysteriously disappeared in the woods behind her grandma's home. She returned whole and healthy, but since then she has had the power to see ghosts.

Soon after, now a teenager, she just wishes the ghosts would leave her alone! At school, the desk next to Sakura's has been empty since the start of the school year. Then one day her always-absent classmate Rinne Rokudo shows up, and he's far more than what he seems!

In a comedy series like this, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Voice work is led by Marina Inoue as Sakura Mamiya and Kaito Ishikawa as Rinne Rokudou. This one is best suited to viewers who want something light between heavier series. With 25 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Brain's Base, which means the visual identity of Rin-ne follows that studio's craft. Because it leans on comedy, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. With a 6.5/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Marina Inoue as Sakura Mamiya, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2015, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
