Gakuen Handsome

About Gakuen Handsome

Gakuen Handsome (学園ハンサム) blends comedy and romance (2016). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. In short: Baramon High School, a private boys' school for the prefecture's most elite. The protagonist transferred into the school and crosses paths with various major players on campus, such as the "outlaw teacher," the soccer captain, and a childhood companion whom the protagonist has not seen in seven years.

As things develop, the school presents opportunities for friendship, love, and conflict. The tagline of the game is, "Whenever you exited the school gates, you were handsome."

With comedy at the core, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Sakuya Mitsurugi (Ryouhei Kimura) and Takuya Saotome (Tetsuya Kakihara) are two of the characters you will meet early. It will appeal most to viewers who want something light between heavier series. With 12 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Because it leans on comedy, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. With a 6.3/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Ryouhei Kimura as Sakuya Mitsurugi, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2016, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
