Red River

About Red River

Here is what Red River (天は赤い河のほとり) is about, retold in plain terms: an action, adventure and drama anime by Tatsunoko Production (2026). At its core: After an enigmatic hand drags her beneath a puddle, modern Japanese teenager Yuri awakens in the Hittite Empire of the 14th century BCE. Thrust into a deadly struggle for the throne, she joins Prince Kail to clash assassins, outwit royal conspiracies, and survive a world at war.

Along the way, as her exploits earn her renown as the goddess Ishtar, Yuri has to choose between her old life and an uncertain future.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Wataru Katou as Kail Mursili and Mirai Tachibana as Yuri Suzuki. This one is best suited to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. At 18 episodes so far, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.
