SUPER LOVERS

About SUPER LOVERS

Looking for background on SUPER LOVERS (スーパーラヴァーズ)? This comedy, drama and romance series by Studio DEEN (2016) starts out like this. The premise: A high school boy named Haru and his mother are living overseas. His mother orders him to take care of and "civilize" his adoptive brother Ren, a wild young boy who dislikes talking with other people.

Along the way, while their relationship is adversarial at first, they grow closer as they begin to understand one another.

In a comedy series like this, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Ren Kaidou (Junko Minagawa) and Haru Kaidou (Tomoaki Maeno) are two of the characters you will meet early. Think of it as a pick for viewers who want something light between heavier series. With 10 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Studio DEEN, which means the visual identity of SUPER LOVERS follows that studio's craft. Within the comedy category, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. With a 6.0/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. On the casting side, Junko Minagawa voicing Ren Kaidou gives the lead role a recognizable voice. It aired in 2016, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
