Hitorijime My Hero

About Hitorijime My Hero

Here is what Hitorijime My Hero (ひとりじめマイヒーロー) is about, retold in plain terms: a romance and slice of life anime by Encourage Films (2017). The premise: High schooler Masahiro Setagawa is a fairly helpless delinquent, so much so that the neighborhood bullies use him to run their errands. His life changes when he runs into high school teacher Kousuke Oshiba, a man whose fighting abilities have earned him a formidable reputation on the streets.

Next up: Oshiba stumbles on himself with a desire to protect Setagawa, and despite swearing that he's not interested in men, Setagawa finds himself getting more involved in Oshiba's affairs...

In a romance series like this, slow-burn chemistry and believable dialogue are what keep it engaging. Voice work is led by Tomoaki Maeno as Kousuke Ooshiba and Toshiki Masuda as Masahiro Setagawa. This one is best suited to viewers who enjoy relationship-driven stories. At 12 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.
