Oreimo English Sub & Dub

About Oreimo

If you are hunting for a new comedy series, Oreimo (俺の妹がこんなに可愛いわけがない) deserves a look (2010). The setup goes like this. At its core: Kousaka Kyousuke, a normal 17-year-old high school pupil living in Chiba, has not gotten along with his younger sister Kirino in years. For longer than he can remember, Kirino has ignored his comings and goings and looked at him with spurning eyes.

Along the way, it seemed as if the relationship between Kyousuke and his sister, now fourteen, would continue this way forever. One day however, Kyousuke finds a DVD case of a magical girl anime which had fallen in his house's entrance way.

In a comedy series like this, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Voice work is led by Yuuichi Nakamura as Kyousuke Kousaka and Ayana Taketatsu as Kirino Kousaka. If you count yourself among viewers who want something light between heavier series, put it on your list. At 12 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.

Production & Appeal

AIC Build and Jumondou is the studio behind Oreimo, and its direction shapes everything from character design to motion. Because it leans on comedy, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. With a 6.5/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. On the casting side, Yuuichi Nakamura voicing Kyousuke Kousaka gives the lead role a recognizable voice. Released in 2010, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
