GRANBELM

About GRANBELM

GRANBELM (グランベルム) blends action, adventure and drama by Nexus (2019). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. What the story covers: Was going back to school at night to retrieve a forgotten lunch box a really bad mistake? That's how it seems when Mangetsu Kohinata without warning stumbles on herself pulled into an odd world where girls in giant magical armor are engaged in a ferocious fight.

Along the way, while the timing was unfortunate, it turns out that Mangetsu's arrival in this strange realm was anything but a mistake, because Mangetsu appears to be a mage herself! Now, with the help of her enigmatic new companion Shingetsu, Mangetsu needs to learn how to summon and control her own giant armor as they fight against other mages in a competition with an unbelievable prize - control of the lost.

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Narrator (Nobuo Tobita) and Mangetsu Kohinata (Miyuri Shimabukuro) are two of the characters you will meet early. This one is best suited to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. The run is 13 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by Nexus, so the studio's house style defines how GRANBELM looks and moves on screen. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.3/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. On the casting side, Nobuo Tobita voicing Narrator gives the lead role a recognizable voice. It aired in 2019, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
