Magical Girl Raising Project

About Magical Girl Raising Project

Magical Girl Raising Project (魔法少女育成計画) arrives as an action anime by Lerche (2016), and the premise is easy to summarize. In short: A social game called The Magical Girl Raising Project allows one in tens of thousands of people to be a "magical girl" — possessing extraordinary physical capabilities and looks. But one day, in a district containing 16 magical girls, the administration announces that it has to halve the number of magical girls to solve the problem of magical energy.

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Nao Touyama as Koyuki Himekawa and Manami Numakura as Kano Sazanami.

This one is best suited to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. The run is 12 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Lerche is the studio behind Magical Girl Raising Project, and its direction shapes everything from character design to motion. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.6/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Nao Touyama as Koyuki Himekawa, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2016, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
