MAGICAL GIRL SITE

About MAGICAL GIRL SITE

If you are hunting for a new action series, MAGICAL GIRL SITE (魔法少女サイト) deserves a look (2018). The setup goes like this. The premise: Asagiri Aya is a young girl who has fallen victim to bullies at her school. Looking for a way to escape her troubles, she looks to the internet for distraction, when an unexplained website called "Magical Girl Site" appears.

Next up: Simply viewing the page is all it takes to hurtle Aya headlong into the deadly world of the Magical Girl Apocalypse. There, it’s confront or die, against a seemingly endless array of savagely adorable, frilly-skirted killing machines, each armed with magical abilities and an unquenchable thirst for blood and chaos.

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Aya Asagiri (Yuuko Oono) and Tsuyuno Yatsumura (Himika Akaneya) are two of the characters you will meet early. It will appeal most to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. The run is 12 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Because it leans on action, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Its 6.1/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. Voice casting, including Yuuko Oono as Aya Asagiri, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2018, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
