Berserk (2016) English Sub & Dub

About Berserk (2016)

Berserk (2016) (ベルセルク) blends action, adventure and drama by Millepensee and LIDENFILMS (2016). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. The setup: Spurred by the flame raging in his heart, the Black Swordsman Guts continues his seemingly endless quest for revenge. Standing in his path are heinous outlaws, delusional evil spirits, and a devout child of god.

Next up: Even as it chips away at his life, Guts continues to confront his adversaries, who wield repulsive and inhumane power, with nary but his body and sword—his strength as a human. What lies at the end of his travels? The answer is shrouded in the "night.

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Guts (Hiroaki Iwanaga) and Casca (Toa Yukinari) are two of the characters you will meet early. This one is best suited to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. The run is 12 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Millepensee and LIDENFILMS, which means the visual identity of Berserk (2016) follows that studio's craft. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 5.6/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. On the casting side, Hiroaki Iwanaga voicing Guts gives the lead role a recognizable voice. Released in 2016, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
