Heartcatch Precure!

About Heartcatch Precure!

Here is what Heartcatch Precure! (ハートキャッチプリキュア!) is about, retold in plain terms: an action, comedy and drama anime by Toei Animation (2010). In short: 2nd year middle school pupil Tsubomi Hanasaki has just moved with her family to the town of Kibougahana to live with her grandma. She is shy and introverted, but is determined to start off her new school life at Myoudou Academy as confidently as possible.

More of the story: Lately she has been having the same enigmatic dream again and again, of Cure Moonlight's defeat at the Great Heart Tree. She wonders what it all means. Then suddenly, two fairies from the dream appear to her, and before she knows it, she is transformed into the legendary Pretty Cure, Cure Blossom!

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Tsubomi Hanasaki (Nana Mizuki) and Erika Kurumi (Fumie Mizusawa) are two of the characters you will meet early. Think of it as a pick for viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 49 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Toei Animation, which means the visual identity of Heartcatch Precure! follows that studio's craft. Because it leans on action, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. A 7.9/10 score points to a dependable, well-liked series. Voice casting, including Nana Mizuki as Tsubomi Hanasaki, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2010, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
