Cardcaptor Sakura

About Cardcaptor Sakura

Here is what Cardcaptor Sakura (カードキャプターさくら) is about, retold in plain terms: a comedy, drama and fantasy anime by MADHOUSE (1998). In short: One day, Kinomoto Sakura, a 4th grader stumbles upon the unexplained book of Clow. Upon opening it and reading the name of The Windy aloud, Sakura scatters the cards to the winds.

Another thread: Sakura is elected and appointed by Keroberos, Guardian of the Cards to capture the remaining cards. With her companion Tomoyo and rival Syaoran, Sakura starts an adventure that will forever change her.

In a comedy series like this, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Voice work is led by Sakura Tange as Sakura Kinomoto and Aya Hisakawa as Cerberus. This one is best suited to viewers who want something light between heavier series. The run is 70 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

The comedy focus matters here: timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. A community score of 8.1/10 puts it among the better-received comedy titles.
