The Qwaser of Stigmata

About The Qwaser of Stigmata

Meet The Qwaser of Stigmata (聖痕のクェイサー), an action, ecchi and supernatural anime by Hoods Entertainment (2010). Here is the premise in a nutshell. What the story covers: When Mafuyu Oribe and her adopted sister Tomo rescue an odd wounded man, they have no idea what they're getting involved with or what the consequences will be. Alexander Nikolaevith Hell is an Iron Qwaser, one of many opposing factions of super-warriors who can each draw upon the power of an element and wield it as an almost unstoppable array of weapons.

Beyond that: Unfortunately for Mafuyu, Alexander's faction is there to gather the mystical relics known collectively as the High Circuit, which puts her friends, family and school at ground zero in a fight for the fate of all mankind! There's an even more disturbing twist, as Qwasers require a special liquid diet to manifest their powers, one provided by the women who serve as a Qwaser's partner. THAT means that the nursing Mafuyu's already given Alexander isn't the only kind of nursing he needs!

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Ayumi Fujimura as Mafuyu Oribe and Aki Toyosaki as Tomo Yamanobe. Think of it as a pick for viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. The run is 24 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Hoods Entertainment, which means the visual identity of The Qwaser of Stigmata follows that studio's craft. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 5.5/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Ayumi Fujimura as Mafuyu Oribe, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2010, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
