The Slayers

About The Slayers

The Slayers (スレイヤーズ) arrives as an adventure anime by E&G Films (1995), and the premise is easy to summarize. In short: Welcome to a realm where magic reigns and monsters lurk behind every corner. Into his land of deadly dragons and menacing magicians comes our heroine -- Lina Inverse, a cute, fireball-throwing sorceress who steals from the wicked and gives to herself!

Another thread: Along with Gourry, a handsome but dumb-as-a-rock swordsman, Lina challenges the forces of not-so-goodness as she seeks truth, justice, fame and gold! Well, mostly fame and gold... Grab your pack and join the wackiest bunch of misfits ever to embark on a quest!

In an adventure series like this, exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. Lina Inverse (Megumi Hayashibara) and Zelgadis Graywords (Hikaru Midorikawa) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among anyone who enjoys travel-the-world storytelling, put it on your list. At 26 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.

Production & Appeal

E&G Films is the studio behind The Slayers, and its direction shapes everything from character design to motion. The adventure focus matters here: exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. A 7.4/10 score points to a dependable, well-liked series. Voice casting, including Megumi Hayashibara as Lina Inverse, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 1995, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
