Good Luck! Ninomiya-kun

About Good Luck! Ninomiya-kun

Good Luck! Ninomiya-kun (ご愁傷さま二ノ宮くん) arrives as a comedy anime by AIC Spirits (2007), and the premise is easy to summarize. The setup: Shungo is a normal high school student living in a huge house. One day, his sister Ryoko sends Mayu and Mikihiro Tsukimura, two siblings, to live with him to help Mayu overcome her problem.

Also worth knowing: Mayu's problem: androphobia (fear of men), and Ryoko wants Shungo to help her overcome. How? By making Mayu and Shungo share the same room, bed, and even take baths together. To make things even worse, Reika Hojo, the pupil-council chair, somehow ends up becoming their maid.

As a comedy title, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Mayu Tsukimura (Mai Kadowaki) and Shungo Ninomiya (Junji Majima) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among viewers who want something light between heavier series, put it on your list. With 12 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

AIC Spirits is the studio behind Good Luck! Ninomiya-kun, and its direction shapes everything from character design to motion. The comedy focus matters here: timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. With a 6.0/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Mai Kadowaki as Mayu Tsukimura, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2007, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
