Sengoku Collection

About Sengoku Collection

Here is what Sengoku Collection (戦国コレクション) is about, retold in plain terms: a fantasy anime by Brain's Base (2012). The setup: Sengoku Collection revolves around many samurai who are accidentally removed from a parallel universe inhabited by well-known historic characters. Unlike the historical war period known to us, all inhabitants in this unique realm look like high school girls.

Beyond that: Coming from the medieval era and finding themselves totally amazed by everything they encounter in modern day Tokyo, the girls become best companions through their adventures.

As a fantasy title, world-building, magic systems and creature design set the tone. Nobunaga Oda (Rumi Ookubo) and Kanetsugu Naoe (Mai Nakahara) are two of the characters you will meet early. It will appeal most to fans of magic, kingdoms and invented worlds. With 26 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Brain's Base, which means the visual identity of Sengoku Collection follows that studio's craft. The fantasy focus matters here: world-building, magic systems and creature design set the tone. With a 5.9/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Rumi Ookubo as Nobunaga Oda, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2012, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
