Battle Girls: Time Paradox

About Battle Girls: Time Paradox

Battle Girls: Time Paradox (戦国乙女～桃色パラドックス～) arrives as an action anime by TMS Entertainment (2011), and the premise is easy to summarize. In short: Hideyoshino is an average girl who always seems to find trouble wherever she goes. One day Hideyoshino visits a local shrine to pray in order to pass her upcoming test.

Also worth knowing: However Hideyoshino sees a blue light coming from inside the Shrine and looks inside to find an unexplained person performing a magic spell. Hideyoshino in a stroke of bad luck trips on a small bell and crashes into the shrine prompting the stranger to catch her. However upon catching Hideyoshino the magic spell spirals out of control and sends Hideyoshino back in time to the Sengoku Era.

With action at the core, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Yoshino Hide (Rina Hidaka) and Nobunaga Oda (Megumi Toyoguchi) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among viewers who like fast, high-impact fights, put it on your list. The run is 13 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

TMS Entertainment is the studio behind Battle Girls: Time Paradox, and its direction shapes everything from character design to motion. The action focus matters here: fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.1/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. On the casting side, Rina Hidaka voicing Yoshino Hide gives the lead role a recognizable voice. Released in 2011, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
