About ItaKiss

Looking for background on ItaKiss (イタズラなKiss)? This comedy and romance series by TMS Entertainment (2008) starts out like this. At its core: Ever since she entered high school, Kotoko Aihara wanted to be in the same class as Naoki Irie. The only problem is that Irie is the smartest student in school in contrast to Kotoko being one of the dumbest.

Along the way, now in her 3rd year of high school, she still isn't there. However, one day her home gets destroyed and the only place left to go to is Irie's home. Now that she lives close to him, will their relationship be the same, or will it become greater than it is?

In a comedy series like this, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Voice work is led by Nana Mizuki as Kotoko Aihara and Daisuke Hirakawa as Naoki Irie. This one is best suited to viewers who want something light between heavier series. With 25 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with TMS Entertainment, which means the visual identity of ItaKiss follows that studio's craft. The comedy focus matters here: timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Its 6.9/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. On the casting side, Nana Mizuki voicing Kotoko Aihara gives the lead role a recognizable voice. It aired in 2008, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
