Tsugumomo

About Tsugumomo

Here is what Tsugumomo (つぐもも) is about, retold in plain terms: an action, comedy and ecchi anime by Zero-G (2017). At its core: One day Kagami Kazuya, an ordinary boy, encounters Kiriha, a beautiful girl in a kimono. It turns out Kiriha is a tsukumogami, a spirit, whose true identity is the precious obi Kazuya carries around as a memory of his late mother.

Beyond that: All kinds of bizarre things unfold in this supernatural action comedy!

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Kiriha (Naomi Oozora) and Kazuya Kagami (Yuuko Sanpei) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among viewers who like fast, high-impact fights, put it on your list. The run is 12 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Zero-G, which means the visual identity of Tsugumomo follows that studio's craft. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.7/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. On the casting side, Naomi Oozora voicing Kiriha gives the lead role a recognizable voice. Released in 2017, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
