Metal Armor Dragonar

About Metal Armor Dragonar

Metal Armor Dragonar (機甲戦記ドラグナー) blends adventure, mecha and sci-fi by Sunrise (1987). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. What the story covers: 2087 - the United Lunar Empire Giganos wages war on the Earth Federation Military to take control of the planet and establish a "rebirth" of the human race. During an invasion of a colony by Giganos' forces, three civilian men stumble upon a trio of top-secret Metal Armor units called "Dragonars" and pilot them to combat the foe forces.

With adventure at the core, exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. Tapp Oceano (Houchuu Ootsuka) and Light Newman (Kenyuu Horiuchi) are two of the characters you will meet early.

Think of it as a pick for anyone who enjoys travel-the-world storytelling. At 48 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by Sunrise, so the studio's house style defines how Metal Armor Dragonar looks and moves on screen. Within the adventure category, exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. With a 6.7/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Houchuu Ootsuka as Tapp Oceano, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 1987, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
