Kanokon: Manatsu no Dai Shanikusai

About Kanokon: Manatsu no Dai Shanikusai

If you are hunting for a new ecchi series, Kanokon: Manatsu no Dai Shanikusai (かのこん ～真夏の大謝肉祭～) deserves a look (2009). The setup goes like this. What the story covers: With the arrival of summer and the school break, Chizuru, Kota, and the rest of their friends are lazily enjoying the warm weather. Chizuru flirts with Kota, Kota gets embarrassed, and Nozomu gets in the way.

More of the story: Tayura pines after Akane, Akane rebuffs Tayura, and a sexy good time ensues. The status quo isn't quite the same since the fox snared her prey, but the timeless boy-meets-girl tale lingers on.

With ecchi at the core, fan-service and comedy are mixed into the main storyline. Nozomu Ezomori (Miyu Takeuchi) and Chizuru Minamoto (Ayako Kawasumi) are two of the characters you will meet early. Think of it as a pick for mature viewers who are fine with suggestive content. At 2 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Xebec, which means the visual identity of Kanokon: Manatsu no Dai Shanikusai follows that studio's craft. The ecchi focus matters here: fan-service and comedy are mixed into the main storyline. With a 6.0/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Miyu Takeuchi as Nozomu Ezomori, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2009, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
