Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer

About Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer

Here is what Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer (劇場版 機動戦士ガンダム00 -A wakening of the Trailblazer-) is about, retold in plain terms: an action, mecha and sci-fi anime by Sunrise (2010). The setup: The year is 2314 AD, two years after Celestial Being's last great clash and the realm faces a new crisis. A derelict Jupiter exploration ship, abandoned 130 years ago, has left its orbit and is approaching Earth.

Soon after, the ESF has also begun to exploit the strength of Innovators through Descartes Shaman. The realm's exposure to GN Particles has resulted in many people awakening as True Innovators. Realizing the military benefits of such individuals, the Earth Sphere Federation has begun to research Innovation and exploit the emerging Innovators' abilities.

With action at the core, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Setsuna F. Seiei (Mamoru Miyano) and Allelujah Haptism (Hiroyuki Yoshino) are two of the characters you will meet early. This one is best suited to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 1 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Sunrise, which means the visual identity of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer follows that studio's craft. The action focus matters here: fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Its 6.9/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. On the casting side, Mamoru Miyano voicing Setsuna F. Seiei gives the lead role a recognizable voice. It aired in 2010, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
