Neo Human Casshan

About Neo Human Casshan

Neo Human Casshan (新造人間キャシャーン) arrives as an action anime by Tatsunoko Production (1973), and the premise is easy to summarize. In short: The brilliant Dr. Azuma created many robots to aid humankind.

Also worth knowing: However, during a thunderstorm his lab was struck by lightning, corrupting the programming of one of his robots, BK-1, who renames himself Braiking Boss and declares that instead of serving mankind, mankind will now serve him! He brings other robots together into an overwhelming army bent on enslaving the human race. Tetsuya, Dr. Azuma's son, asks his father to turn him into an indestructible android so that he will have the power to destroy the threat his father inadvertently created.

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Ikuo Nishikawa as Casshern and Emiko Tsukada as Luna Kozuki. Think of it as a pick for viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. At 35 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Tatsunoko Production, which means the visual identity of Neo Human Casshan follows that studio's craft. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.3/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Ikuo Nishikawa as Casshern, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 1973, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
