Tales of Eternia

About Tales of Eternia

Tales of Eternia (テイルズ オブ エターニア THE ANIMATION) blends adventure, comedy and fantasy by Production I.G and Xebec (2001). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. At its core: In order to prevent the catastrophe called the Grand Fall, Rid Hershel and his companions Farah, Keel and Meredy have obtained the three Greater Spirits ("Craymels" in the game version) of Inferia. En route to Mount Farlos, Rid is kidnapped by the bounty hunter Marone Blucarno, and the party is compelled to head to Belcarnu, an archipelago far from the major cities of Inferia.

Along the way, a series of adventures forces them to remain on the islands, where a more immediate threat to Inferia sleeps.

In an adventure series like this, exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. Reid Hershel (Akira Ishida) and Farah Oersted (Yuuko Minaguchi) are two of the characters you will meet early. Think of it as a pick for anyone who enjoys travel-the-world storytelling. With 13 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by Production I.G and Xebec, so the studio's house style defines how Tales of Eternia looks and moves on screen. Within the adventure category, exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. With a 5.8/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Akira Ishida as Reid Hershel, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2001, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
