Xam'd: Lost Memories

About Xam'd: Lost Memories

Here is what Xam'd: Lost Memories (亡念のザムド) is about, retold in plain terms: an action and sci-fi anime by bones (2008). The premise: Sentan Island is a small island surrounded by the Yuden Sea. It exists in a state of dreamlike tranquility, cut off from the war between the Northern Government and the Southern Continent Free Zone.

Another thread: Our hero, Akiyuki Takehara, lives on Sentan Island along with his mother Fusa. He is currently separated from his father, the town doctor Ryuzo, but the bond between father and son remains. One day, after taking Ryuzo the lunch that Fusa has made for him as usual, Akiyuki arrives at school, where he is caught up in an explosion along with his allies, Haru and Furuichi.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Atsushi Abe as Akiyuki Takehara and Fumiko Orikasa as Haru Nishimura. It will appeal most to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 26 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.
