Devilman: The Demon Bird

About Devilman: The Demon Bird

Here is what Devilman: The Demon Bird (デビルマン 妖鳥シレーヌ編) is about, retold in plain terms: an action, fantasy and horror anime by Oh! Production (1990). At its core: Demons exist and their strength is beyond what humans can fathom. In fact, they are so strong that humans do not stand a chance against them in a fight.

As things develop, the only thing capable enough to defeat a demon is another demon, and it is through this logic that Ryo Asuka hatches the plan to have his good-hearted friend, Akira Fudo, possessed by a demon. If a person is of pure of heart, then they might be able to control the demon that possesses them, and thereby acquire strength equal to a demon. After raising some hell in a club, the plan works, and Akira is possessed by the mighty demon known as Amon.

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Shou Hayami as Akira Fudou and Yuu Mizushima as Ryo Asuka. Think of it as a pick for viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. At 1 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.
