ViVid Strike!

About ViVid Strike!

Here is what ViVid Strike! is about, retold in plain terms: an action, drama and mahou shoujo anime by Seven Arcs Pictures (2016). At its core: Raised up in the same orphanage, Fuuka and Rinne were once close allies but parted ways after a quarrel ended up with Rinne overwhelming Fuuka with her martial art skills. Fuuka lived a life of poverty after leaving the orphanage but an accidental encounter with renowned martial arts champion Einhard Stratos leads to the discovery of Fuuka's hidden talent in fighting.

Beyond that: Einhard offers Fuuka a job and through her coaching and encouragement, she is set to meet Rinne again, in the ring.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Natsuko Kuwatani as Lutecia Alpine and Kaori Mizuhashi as Vivio Takamachi. It will appeal most to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. The run is 12 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by Seven Arcs Pictures, so the studio's house style defines how ViVid Strike! looks and moves on screen. The action focus matters here: fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.7/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Natsuko Kuwatani as Lutecia Alpine, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2016, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
