Hunter x Hunter

About Hunter x Hunter

Looking for background on Hunter x Hunter (HUNTER×HUNTER)? This action, adventure and fantasy series by Nippon Animation (1999) starts out like this. The premise: A Hunter is one who travels the realm doing all sorts of risky tasks. From capturing criminals to searching deep within uncharted lands for any lost treasures.

More of the story: Gon is a young boy whose father disappeared long ago, being a Hunter. He believes if he could also follow his father's path, he could one day reunite with him. After becoming 12, Gon leaves his home and takes on the task of entering the Hunter exam, notorious for its low success rate and high probability of death to become an official Hunter.

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Hiroki Touchi as Ging Freecss and Kanako Mitsuhashi as Killua Zoldyck. Think of it as a pick for viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 62 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.
