GEOBREEDERS: BREAKTHROUGH

About GEOBREEDERS: BREAKTHROUGH

GEOBREEDERS: BREAKTHROUGH (ジオブリーダーズ2 魍魎遊撃隊 File-XX "乱戦突破") blends adventure, comedy and supernatural by Chaos Project (2000). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. At its core: Taba and the Girls of Kagura Total Security Inc. are at it again. This time they have to clash a Gang of Phantom Cats and an unexplained enemy and assassin.

As things develop, there are the run ins with the Government, the need for a new office, as well as sorting out the past to deal with. Luckily, they've got a stock pile of weapons and super technology to help.

In an adventure series like this, exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. Voice work is led by Satomi Koorogi as Yuka Kikushima and Aya Hisakawa as Maki Umezaki. It will appeal most to anyone who enjoys travel-the-world storytelling. With 4 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by Chaos Project, so the studio's house style defines how GEOBREEDERS: BREAKTHROUGH looks and moves on screen. The adventure focus matters here: exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. Its 6.3/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. On the casting side, Satomi Koorogi voicing Yuka Kikushima gives the lead role a recognizable voice. Released in 2000, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
