About Yukikaze

Here is what Yukikaze (戦闘妖精雪風) is about, retold in plain terms: an action, drama and psychological anime by GONZO (2002). The setup: This full 3DCG digital animation has story takes place in the far future after a pillar of huge fog appeared all at once in the South Pole. This pillar, known as Jam, is actually a passage for an earth invasion.

Further in, in order to oppose the threat, the United Nations established an earth defense mechanism. Fukai Zero is a hero registered to the main force of earth defense and the special 5th flight squadron. His reconnaissance plane, Yukikaze (windblown snow) is the best tactical reconnaissance plane.

With action at the core, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Masato Sakai as Rei Fukai and Jouji Nakata as James Booker. Think of it as a pick for viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 5 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Voice casting, including Masato Sakai as Rei Fukai, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2002, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
