VOLTES V

About VOLTES V

Here is what VOLTES V (超電磁マシーン ボルテスV) is about, retold in plain terms: an adventure, drama and mecha anime by Sunrise and Toei Animation (1977). The setup: From out of nowhere, a mysterious alien race known as the Boazan Forces has invaded the Earth. A group of individuals specially trained to handle this kind of situation has been unleashed.

Next up: Kenichi, Ippei, Daijirou, Hiyoshi & Megumi are the pilots of the Choudenji Machine Voltes V (5), Earth's defense against the Boazan and their terrible Beast Warriors. The plot thickens as the Go Brothers discover their true heritage and the truth behind their father's disappearance. Conflicts and mixed emotions hinder the Go Brothers at times but due to their unwavering desire to find their dad, they needs to go to the place where it all started.

With adventure at the core, exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. Ippei Mine (Kazuyuki Sogabe) and Kenichi Gou (Yukinaga Shiraishi) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among anyone who enjoys travel-the-world storytelling, put it on your list. At 40 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by Sunrise and Toei Animation, so the studio's house style defines how VOLTES V looks and moves on screen. The adventure focus matters here: exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. A 7.0/10 score points to a dependable, well-liked series. Voice casting, including Kazuyuki Sogabe as Ippei Mine, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 1977, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
