Katte ni Kaizou English Sub & Dub

About Katte ni Kaizou

Katte ni Kaizou (かってに改蔵) blends comedy and sci-fi by Shaft (2011). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. In short: Katsu Kaizou is a very gullible, 17-year-old high school student and a believer in science fiction, aliens, ghosts, UFOs, conspiracies, etc. He thinks that everything going on around him is the result of some sort of alien plot to take over the world.

More of the story: Each story is pretty much self-contained and is completely bizarre. Kaizou joins the school's science club, makes new allies, and ends up coming in contact with all sorts of peculiar things like log people, deadly sushi, pee-blades, scary infections, robot invasions, ghosts, living dolls.

As a comedy title, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Kaizou Katsu (Takahiro Sakurai) and Umi Natori (Eri Kitamura) are two of the characters you will meet early. This one is best suited to viewers who want something light between heavier series. The run is 6 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Shaft, which means the visual identity of Katte ni Kaizou follows that studio's craft. The comedy focus matters here: timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. With a 6.6/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Takahiro Sakurai as Kaizou Katsu, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2011, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
