Joshiraku

About Joshiraku

Joshiraku (じょしらく) blends comedy and slice of life by J.C.STAFF (2012). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. What the story covers: Marii, Kigurumi, Tetora, Gankyou, and Kukuru deserve a round of applause for keeping the art of Rakugo alive! What’s their secret?

Also worth knowing: Witty, absurd banter of course! These five companions always have something to talk about, no matter how silly the topic.

With comedy at the core, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Marii Buratei (Ayane Sakura) and Kigurumi Haroukitei (Kotori Koiwai) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among viewers who want something light between heavier series, put it on your list. The run is 13 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with J.C.STAFF, which means the visual identity of Joshiraku follows that studio's craft. The comedy focus matters here: timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. A 7.3/10 score points to a dependable, well-liked series. On the casting side, Ayane Sakura voicing Marii Buratei gives the lead role a recognizable voice. Released in 2012, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
