It will appeal most to viewers who prefer story and feelings over flashy action. The run is 25 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Tokyo Douga, which means the visual identity of Star Blazers: The Bolar Wars follows that studio's craft. Because it leans on drama, character writing and emotional payoff matter more than spectacle. Its 6.8/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. Voice casting, including Kei Tomiyama as Susumu Kodai, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 1980, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
