A Place Further Than the Universe

About A Place Further Than the Universe

A Place Further Than the Universe (宇宙よりも遠い場所) arrives as an adventure anime by MADHOUSE (2018), and the premise is easy to summarize. At its core: Mari Tamaki is in her second year of high school and longs to start something. It's then that she crosses paths with Shirase, a girl with few friends who's considered weirdo by the rest of the class and nicknamed "Antarctic" since it's all she ever talks about.

Another thread: Unlike her peers, Mari is moved by Shirase's dedication and chooses that even though it's unlikely that high school girls will ever go to Antarctica, she's going to try to go with Shirase.

With adventure at the core, exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. Voice work is led by Inori Minase as Mari Tamaki and Kana Hanazawa as Shirase Kobuchizawa. If you count yourself among anyone who enjoys travel-the-world storytelling, put it on your list. At 13 episodes in total, it is easy to plan a viewing schedule.
