Tweeny Witches

About Tweeny Witches

Here is what Tweeny Witches (魔法少女隊アルス) is about, retold in plain terms: an adventure, comedy and fantasy anime by Studio 4°C (2004). The premise: Alice believes in magic. With all her heart, she believes that magic is possible and that it can be used for good deeds and fun games.

As things develop, suddenly, she stumbles on herself transported into another world, ruled by a mysterious elite of witches - and these witches don't seem to be in it for the fun. They're hard at work capturing sprites, the native magical beings of the world, and forcing them into slavery. Once Alice realizes that her new surroundings aren't just a dream, she sets out to change things.

As an adventure title, exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. Arusu (Sachiko Kojima) and Sheila (Houko Kuwashima) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among anyone who enjoys travel-the-world storytelling, put it on your list. With 40 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by Studio 4°C, so the studio's house style defines how Tweeny Witches looks and moves on screen. The adventure focus matters here: exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. Its 6.7/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. Voice casting, including Sachiko Kojima as Arusu, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2004, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
