Heat Guy J

About Heat Guy J

Looking for background on Heat Guy J (ヒートガイジェイ)? This action, adventure and mecha series by Satelight (2002) starts out like this. What the story covers: In the metropolis of Judoh, Claire Leonelli has inherited leadership of the Mafia group "Vampire" following the death of his father. To keep Claire's and other criminal activities in check, the town's Bureau of Urban Safety has Special Services Division operative Daisuke Aurora and the super android codenamed "J" (whose identity is apparently kept in secrecy.

Along the way, with both of them around, crime now has little room to breathe in Judoh.

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Masaya Matsukaze as Daisuke Aurora and Takayuki Sugou as J. If you count yourself among viewers who like fast, high-impact fights, put it on your list. With 25 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Satelight is the studio behind Heat Guy J, and its direction shapes everything from character design to motion. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.6/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. On the casting side, Masaya Matsukaze voicing Daisuke Aurora gives the lead role a recognizable voice. It aired in 2002, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
