Buta

About Buta

Here is what Buta is about, retold in plain terms: an adventure, fantasy and comedy anime by Telecom Animation Film (2012). In short: A few days before Fox officially inherits the treasured heirloom in his family—a mysterious map, the Tufugu Pirates storm into his house and kidnap him, taking the odd map with them. Buta, a mighty mercenary, is hired by shady characters to help them seek the treasure.

From there, in a stroke of great luck, Buta and Fox meet in the underbelly of a pirate ship. Will Fox be able to convince Buta to save him, or will the fabled treasure fall into the hands of crooks?

In an adventure series like this, exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. Think of it as a pick for anyone who enjoys travel-the-world storytelling.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by Telecom Animation Film, so the studio's house style defines how Buta looks and moves on screen. The adventure focus matters here: exploration, new locations and a steady sense of momentum drive the story. With a 6.5/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Released in 2012, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
