Hellsing Ultimate

About Hellsing Ultimate

Hellsing Ultimate (HELLSING OVA) arrives as an action anime by MADHOUSE and Satelight (2006), and the premise is easy to summarize. At its core: Hellsing, a hidden organization of the British government, has long been battling supernatural threats to keep the people safe from creatures of the night. The current leader, Integra Wingates Hellsing controls her own personal army to eliminate the undead beings, but even her highly trained soldiers pale in comparison to her most trusted vampire exterminator.

Another thread: Along with Integra's enigmatic butler and Alucard's new vampire minion, Seras Victoria, The Hellsing Organization must face not only regular ghouls and vampires, but a rivaling hidden organization from the Vatican. A bloody fight between monsters is about to begin, the dead are dancing, and all hell is singing...

In an action series like this, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Alucard (Jouji Nakata) and Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing (Kaori Mizuhashi) are two of the characters you will meet early. If you count yourself among viewers who like fast, high-impact fights, put it on your list. The run is 10 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with MADHOUSE and Satelight, which means the visual identity of Hellsing Ultimate follows that studio's craft. The action focus matters here: fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. A community score of 8.1/10 puts it among the better-received action titles. On the casting side, Jouji Nakata voicing Alucard gives the lead role a recognizable voice. Released in 2006, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
