Canaan

About Canaan

Canaan (カナン) arrives as an action anime by P.A.WORKS (2009), and the premise is easy to summarize. What the story covers: Oosawa Maria is a Japanese photographer currently working in Shanghai, China. Along with her partner Mino, she searches for potential newsworthy stories throughout the metropolis.

From there, when strange events occur at a local festival, Maria and Mino immediately investigate. Rapidly, the two are immersed in a fight between unknown masked men and an odd, white-haired woman. Just when Maria is about to be caught in the crossfire, an old ally by the name of Canaan appears and helps Maria escape.

With action at the core, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Miyuki Sawashiro as Canaan and Maaya Sakamoto as Alphard Al Sheya. Think of it as a pick for viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. The run is 13 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.
