The Book of Bantorra

About The Book of Bantorra

The Book of Bantorra (戦う司書 The Book of Bantorra) blends action and fantasy by david production and Sakura Create (2009). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. In short: In another time and place, on a realm of pain and sorrow, when someone dies, their soul doesn’t go to Heaven or Hell — it turns into a book. A book that exposes the deceased’s innermost buried truths and that can be read by anyone.

More of the story: Protecting these priceless treasures is the elite organization known as the Armed Librarians. It’s their job to keep the books and the knowledge within them safe from those who would misuse or destroy them. It’s a tough, risky job, so Chief Librarian Hamyuts Meseta recruits only the best and the brightest psychics to join her team of expert fighters.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Romi Park as Hamyuts Meseta and Miyuki Sawashiro as Mirepoch Finder. Think of it as a pick for viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. The run is 27 episodes in total, so you know what you are signing up for.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with david production and Sakura Create, which means the visual identity of The Book of Bantorra follows that studio's craft. The action focus matters here: fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Its 6.7/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. Voice casting, including Romi Park as Hamyuts Meseta, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 2009, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
