Air in Summer

About Air in Summer

Here is what Air in Summer (AIR イン サマー) is about, retold in plain terms: a comedy, drama and romance anime by Kyoto Animation (2005). What the story covers: An extension of the summer-arc in the Air TV-series, showing more of what happened during Kanna's, Ryuya's and Uraha's journey to find Kanna's mother.

With comedy at the core, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. Kanna (Chinami Nishimura) and Uraha (Kikuko Inoue) are two of the characters you will meet early.

If you count yourself among viewers who want something light between heavier series, put it on your list. With 2 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Kyoto Animation, which means the visual identity of Air in Summer follows that studio's craft. Within the comedy category, timing, character chemistry and running gags decide whether it lands. With a 6.9/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. Voice casting, including Chinami Nishimura as Kanna, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. It aired in 2005, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
