Gunsmith Cats

About Gunsmith Cats

Gunsmith Cats (ガンスミスキャッツ) blends action, comedy and thriller by OLM (1995). Below is a fresh retelling of what the story is about. The setup: Rally Vincent knows her weapons well, while her partner Minne May Hopkins loves to play with explosives. The pair run a gun-shop illegally and one day Bill Collins of the ATF, blackmails Rally and Minnie May into working for the ATF.

Beyond that: Little do they know, that they are getting involved in a mission larger than they could imagine.

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Voice work is led by Michiko Neya as Rally Vincent and Kae Araki as Minnie May. It will appeal most to viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 3 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Animation is handled by OLM, so the studio's house style defines how Gunsmith Cats looks and moves on screen. The action focus matters here: fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. At 7.4/10 it earns a solid reception, a safe pick for fans of the genre. Voice casting, including Michiko Neya as Rally Vincent, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 1995, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
