Lightspeed Electroid Albegas

About Lightspeed Electroid Albegas

Looking for background on Lightspeed Electroid Albegas (光速電神アルベガス)? This mecha series by Toei Animation (1983) starts out like this. What the story covers: Three talented students of a technical high school, Daisaku, Tetsuya and Hotaru create award-winning robots as part of a school competition. At this time, the evil Derinja race that plans control of all space extends its ambitions to Earth.

As things develop, to combat this threat, Hotaru's father, Professor Mizuki, takes the three robots and modifies them for clash. Albegas, a super robot, is born.

With mecha at the core, robot design, combat scale and technical spectacle are the draw. Voice work is led by Eiji Kanie as Narrator and Toshio Furukawa as Daisaku Enjouji. If you count yourself among fans of giant robots and large-scale battles, put it on your list. With 45 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Production sits with Toei Animation, which means the visual identity of Lightspeed Electroid Albegas follows that studio's craft. The mecha focus matters here: robot design, combat scale and technical spectacle are the draw. Its 6.3/10 score suggests opinions are split, so it suits viewers who already like the genre. Voice casting, including Eiji Kanie as Narrator, adds to the appeal for fans who follow seiyuu. Released in 1983, it competed with that season's other new series for attention.
