Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture

About Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture

Here is what Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture (餓狼伝説 -THE MOTION PICTURE-) is about, retold in plain terms: an action, adventure and drama anime by Studio Wombat and Studio Comet (1994). At its core: According to legend, the person who collects all six pieces of the mysterious Armor of Mars will become heir to the timeless, all mighty techniques rumored to be at the base of all the world's martial arts schools. Laocorn Gaudeamus, arrogant young descendant of the armor's long-ago original owner, has scoured archaeological sites around the realm, thus far managing to recover half of the mystical armor.

More of the story: Can anything stand in his way?

As an action title, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. Joe Higashi (Nobuyuki Hiyama) and Terry Bogard (Kazukiyo Nishikiori) are two of the characters you will meet early. Think of it as a pick for viewers who like fast, high-impact fights. With 1 episodes in total, there is enough room for the story to develop.

Production & Appeal

Studio Wombat and Studio Comet is the studio behind Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture, and its direction shapes everything from character design to motion. Within the action category, fight choreography, pacing and sound design carry much of the weight. With a 6.2/10 score, it is more of a niche pick than a universal crowd-pleaser. On the casting side, Nobuyuki Hiyama voicing Joe Higashi gives the lead role a recognizable voice. It aired in 1994, which makes it easy to place in the wider anime calendar.
